SJJA Reopening Training Protocol
The return to normal activities at the academy will be a complex process, a careful step-by-step process needs to be implemented to ensure the safety of our students and staff with the resumption of our activities.
As the guidelines for professional and community sport are set to be lifted in stage 2, the reopening protocol will be performed in 2 stages. The protocol will commence with an initial phase of a small group (<20) involving non-contact indoor activities, prior to moving on to three subsequent phases of large group (>20) activities of minimum contact and including full contact training later.
Stage 2 (Non-Contact Activities)
SJJA Students must not visit other SJJA locations.
The academy will be open with strict physical distancing measures and for a limited number of students only to attend each class. Only 20 students will be allowed in each class. No spectators will be allowed to enter the academy at this stage.
Physical distancing of 1.5 meters must be observed by students at all times.
The approach to training should focus on getting in, train, get out, minimising unnecessary contact in change rooms, bathrooms and communal areas.
Bring your own bottle of water and use toilets only if necessary.
Shaking hands before and after class is not permitted. Greetings should be restricted to bowing before and after each class.
Classes will be run strictly on time. Students must be dropped off before on time and picked up straight away after each class. A 15-minute period between classes will be used to allow for disinfecting of mats and high touch surfaces. After each class, students should leave the premises as soon as possible to facilitate the cleaning process.
Before attending class:
Ensure you have signed the Covid-19 Specific Liability Waiver.
Ensure you have no symptoms of Covid-19 , which include:
Shortness of breath
Ensure you have not been unwell within 14 days (If you have been unwell please seek medical clearance before returning to training).
Ensure you have not been in contact with anyone who tested positive for Covid-19 within 14 days.
Limit attendance to twice a week at this stage unless there are spots available as we are operating with a limited capacity.
Check-in to class before leaving home using the SJJA App. No IPAD will be available to students during classes, our staff will record students attendance instead.
A screening procedure will be available with a non-contact infrared thermometer, a normal temperature is defined as< 37.6 ° C and a fever is defined as > 38 ° C. A forehead scanner can be up to (o.6° C) lower than an oral temperature.
Prepare to answer health questions if you have or have been experiencing symptoms of Covid – 19 before admission.
Uniforms will be checked for high levels of hygiene before each class.
Your hands will be washed with hand sanitiser before entering the Academy.
Procedure to begin class:
Leave your shoes at the edge of the mats.
Use hand sanitiser prior to stepping onto the mat.
Allocate yourself at the safety area keeping a physical distance (1.5m) and wait for instruction to step onto the mat.
Upon coach instruction, enter the mat at your designated area.
In case you need to use toilets, make sure you wear shoes and wash your hands before and after using the toilet.
At the end of each class, exit the mat keeping physical distancing, use hand sanitiser again, collect your belongings and leave the academy as soon as possible.
Classes will have a shorter duration than usual (kids 30 minutes and adults 45 minutes).
Each student will train inside a demarcated area with a minimum distance of 1.5 meters from other training areas.
Students will perform aerobic/agility/training, solo drills and individual exercises.
Stage 3 (Minimum Contact Activities)
A similar approach to SJJA Stage 2 including measures before class, procedures to begin class and general screening will be used for Stage 3, but with some modifications.
Students must not visit other SJJA locations.
The academy will be open with strict physical distancing measures but for a larger group (>20) of people to attend each class. Students will be allowed to have only l training partner, or more if they belong to the same family, or always have the same training partner every class. Spectators will be allowed only if they are not compromising the building capacity in terms of numbers. Spectators should keep themselves away from students and maintain physical distance (1.5m) from other Spectators.
The approach to training should still focus on getting in, trai n, get out , minimising unnecessary contact in change rooms, bathrooms and communal areas.
Shaking hands before and after class is not permitted.
After each class, students should leave the premises as soon as possible to facilitate cleaning of communal areas and disinfecting the mat area for the next classes.
Classes will have a normal duration
Group of students will keep a distance of 10m2 from other groups.
Students will perform aerobic/agility/training, solo drills, individual exercises, technical activities with a fixed partner or with 2 or more from the same family.
Full Contact Activities
Activities should resume as per normal with full training. The implementation of this stage will be constantly reviewed by our staff and will take place only upon clearance by NSW Health and the NSW Government.
